Webinar: Operation Clean Sweep

IAPD e-Training Webinar: Operation Clean Sweep

Marine litter is a growing concern, both globally and in the United States. For the plastics industry, it is often a black eye and while we cannot control all aspects of litter prevention, there is one area of marine debris where responsibility rests solely on us. We're talking about raw plastic pellets -- spilled in manufacturing plants or in transit -- that are washed down storm drains and end up in our oceans and waterways. It is a bigger problem than most realize.

Operation Clean Sweep (OCS) is an international program designed to empower and aid employees of the plastics industry to keep resin pellets out of the marine environment. OCS is free and is composed of basic housekeeping tools, checklists and signage to help companies who handle resin pellets. It is a simple step to help strengthen your company's sustainability initiatives, safety record, financial bottom line and reputation in the community.

Patty Long, Society of the Plastics Industry (SPI)'s vice president of industry affairs will elaborate on this program, explain how you can become a member and access the tools to help your company achieve its sustainability goals.
