IAPD Announces 2017 Marketing Excellence Award Recipients
Overland Park, KS —The International Association of Plastics Distribution (IAPD), the international trade association comprised of companies engaged in the distribution and manufacturer of performance plastics, is pleased to announce the following recipients of its annual Marketing Excellence Award:
Gold - SIMONA America Inc.
Silver - Cope Plastics, Inc.
Bronze - Regal Plastic Supply, Inc.
The recipients were honored at the opening general session at the 61st Annual IAPD Convention and Plastics Expo today in Chicago, IL, USA, by IAPD President Mitch Opalich and Vice President Rick Gough.
SIMONA America Inc. was recognized for many outstanding integrated marketing campaigns to promote its own products as well as its efforts to promote performance plastics to end users through targeted content marketing. The company has an active social media presence, leverages IAPD marketing resources, does dedicated outreach to other industries to promote performance plastics and frequently sponsors IAPD and non-IAPD events.
Cope Plastics, Inc. actively promotes performance plastics, its business, its environmental achievements and IAPD. In 2017, the company launched a series of three professionally made videos that highlight the company's history, employees and their future. They also partnered with a long-time customer to record a testimonial video. Cope Plastics, Inc. collaborated with vendors on an integrated marketing campaign involving Google adwords and email to drive web traffic. The company leverages IAPD marketing resources, is active on social media and provides valuable training to those outside the industry to promote performance plastics.
Regal Plastic Supply, Inc. engaged in two rebranding campaigns this year: positioning the company as knowledge leaders through informative blogs and videos as well as a culture shift toward employee growth and lean manufacturing, which was documented on social media. They promoted a product via a timelapse video of its installation, which was shared on YouTube and other social media outlets. Regal Plastic Supply, Inc. hosts educational events for people outside the industry to educate and promote performance plastics to a new audience.
"IAPD is proud to honor the accomplishments of these three companies with the IAPD Marketing Excellence Award. Everything these companies do evangelizes plastics, which goes hand-in-hand with IAPD's mission to grow the performance plastics industry," said Susan Avery, CAE, IAPD Chief Executive Officer. "This award shows companies of all sizes that they don't need a huge budget and a sophisticated marketing agency to promote themselves. I hope this award program helps all IAPD members investigate all the low and no-cost promotional opportunities available to them via their IAPD membership."
Awards are based on a point system. Companies accrued points by engaging in various marketing activities during the eligibility period of August 1, 2016 - July 31, 2017. Point values varied based on the relative ease or difficulty of the activity. For example, companies could earn points for issuing press releases, writing articles for IAPD or other industry publications, blogging, having a social media presence, presenting IAPD e-training webinars and including IAPD logos in their email signatures and/or on their websites. Although points were awarded for activities that require monetary investment, such as sponsoring events and exhibiting at trade shows, the award criteria was created with all companies in mind and includes numerous low or no cost ideas for IAPD member companies to promote themselves.
Any IAPD member company is eligible to apply for the IAPD Marketing Excellence Awards.
